Jonny and Michelle Law first met when Michelle was a bartender and cut Jonny off, leading him to say “I’m going to marry that woman someday.” True to his word, they have been married for seven years and have three children. Jonny’s lifelong dream was to own a fishing vessel and, after working on his dad’s boat and also fishing in Alaska for five years, his dream came true when he bought the F/V Lady Law nearly 12 years ago. Michelle has been a bartender for 15 years and has been working at Nana’s Irish Pub for the last three years. She also loves spending time as a volunteer with Newport Fisherman’s Wives and on many school and sports activities. As for dancing, Jonny has some moves “which he learned in his younger years from the ladies” but other than that has no experience. Michelle took three months of ballet when she was nine years old, but felt like working the family farm in Siletz was more important. Jonny has chosen to take on this challenge because he loves his wife and knows how badly she wanted to do this. “Also,” he says with a laugh, “my wife owes me big time.” Michelle likes the challenge and likes the idea of stepping out of her comfort zone. “This is a great opportunity to raise money for families that need our help. We all have been in a bind at sometime in our lives and it’s a great feeling to be there and help others.”
